Rap:

i know rap is a dying breed 'n all w/ the youth (at the hands of this rock/emo/punk generation) and it's more nostalgic for many of us "oldies", but for those that absolutely love rap... down to it's real full essence that points back to hip-hop culture....

don't you agree that common (formerly known as common sense) is an AMAZING rapper?  talk about timeless...

given that i concur w/ a lot of stuff he says, he DOES say things that i'm completely against as well...  i.e. his song, G.O.D. (gaining one's definition) would be a bit too post modern for me... but yea, the mere fact that he makes you think should be enough to peep him out.

Technology:

okay, i know many of you skip the parts in which i speak of technology, but this one is actually pretty interesting.  toshiba has announced and shipped out their first 4oGB 1.8-inch drives today.  why is this important you ask?

desktop computers typically hold 3.5-inch drives (they're whopping)
laptops typically hold 2.5-inch drives (they're tiny and don't consumer too much power to operate)
ipods and other mp3 players typically hold 1.8-inch drives...............

so hold up a second... think about this... 1.8-inch drives go into media players... thanks to toshiba, we now officially have the technology to make an iPod mini have 4oGBs of data... stack multiple 1.8-inch drives into an iPod and we can probably get hundreds of GB's running.  do you see da crajies i speak of?  technology is moving at such a rapid rate right now.. we're living in interesting times...

Woe is Me or You:

you know.. i was thinking about mourning the other day.  is mourning for yourself, or is it purely for the deceased?  i would believe that it's the latter.  when you mourn for someone, it should have NOTHING to do w/ you.  you are expressing great sorrow for someone else...   anything otherwise would be disrespectful to the dead. 

obviously death is a very sensitive subject and i'm somewhat of a jerk to be bringing something like this up, but dang... how often do you see people that use the deceased as a tool for an attention shift to themselves?  how crazy is that?  it TOTALLY defeats the purpose of mourning in my eyes.  i personally believe that the time of mourning is a special time solely focused on the dead.  given that there obviously needs to be a shift EVENTUALLY on the ones affected by death, BUT please... give your condolences to the dead first..  mourn properly, then when your respects have been paid, only then should you focus on your pain.

now... death isn't something that comes to many of us on a normal basis... i think i just used this illustration to bring it's template to a greater meaning behind it all.. that meaning would be love and compassion.  those are things we can use each day... i believe the main point in proper mourning is separation of ones self from the situation at hand.  to purely focus on the other person w/ out thinking of yourself.  that is a powerful reflection of love and compassion.

does anyone jive w/ what i'm saying here?  comments/opinions/disagreements/confusions welcomed.
